TP 12/13 Skype

S K Y P E   I N   T H E   C L A S S R O O M

Skype is an amazing opportunity for teachers and their students of all ages, subjects and types of schools around the world. You'll meet teachers, students, classrooms visually face to face of completely other regions/countries/continents/cultures without leaving your own classroom for a second.

Skype-EDUCATION  (SKYPE IN THE CLASSROOM) is still a pretty new section of Skype Communications SARL (Microsoft). Nevertheless, the global  teacher and classroom community of Skype is rapidly growing day by day. Meanwhile, there are around 30,000 teachers + classrooms, nearly 2,000 different projects, uncounted teacher/students groups (and also various school-external science/artists/and experts of various important disciplines who look forward to attending your class for free via Skype on your individual call.

Many of our teacher friends already use these great opportunities during their lessons - for example, Svetlana / Russia, Stephen / Australia, Govinda / Nepal, etc. etc. (to name just a few of our friends). The best and most effective way: Simply inform yourself, and choose or post according to your special contact wishes, needs, and ideas, on the huge portal of Skype EDUCATION.

Global contacts (which you find on forums such as ePALs, eTwinning, Global Gateway, iEARN, etc.) regarding possibilities of written contacts, you additionally can find on Skype EDUCATON, but expanded through visual possibilities of direct mutual live contacts - completely for free.

What does this mean for
  TODD'S  PROJECT  2012 / 2013 ?

This school year we intend to show your photos and videos of your live video- conferences as often as possible on this site.
So - please, please, please - take pictures and/or videos during your Skype conferencing  this school year, and send them to us via email-attachment (Ilse-schwartz@web.de) We are looking forward to admiring your videos, photos and information on this site in 2012/2013.

As a small kind of 'appetizer', here just a few photos from our Teacher Friend Svetlana / Russia (Smolenkoye School No. 1, Altai Krai, South Siberia, Russia), taken in recent months while skyping with teachers/students from Taiwan, Germany, India, and other countries.

BTW, this is a nice link to Skype in the classroom on FB

Of course we will be especially happy if Todd's Teacher Friends also Skype with each other this school year. That is why you find some information below. These Teacher Friends will be happy about a skype contact with you and your students. Therefore we also mentioned their email addresses for appointments in advance. (We're sure the list will continously expand during the next months :) Sometimes there are some significant time gaps. But also for this there are a number of solutions. Svetlana/Russia kindly can give you some information from her practical experience on this matter. Her email address: svetlana.rovensk@yahoo.com

Svetlana/Russia wrote afterwards:
" On December, 19 we had a conference with wonderful students from the Primary school of Zerhoria, Halkidiki, Greece. They told us about their hobbies, favourite colors and  dishes. It was really amazing to listen to a  Greek carol (a Christmas song) and to talk about Christmas. Our students made a little snowman and showed our hand-made  Christmas decorations. Thank you, dear friends for a wonderful talk! Thank you Mrs. Melahrini Papardeli!

It was a great pleasure to work with Melahrini and we are looking forward to our work at the projects.  Svetlana "
